What makes a better pet bird a parakeet or a parrotlet? - Pets Care

i used to have parakeets but some were shy and non friendly but iv been reading up on parrotlets and i was wondering which one makes a better pet bird.

Well I?ve never had a pet Parakeet before but I?ve had a Cockatiel and a Lovebird before. Those are both a lot of fun, but I have a Parrotlet right now. I actually bought him recently and he?s actually sitting on my shoulder right now!!

My Parrotlet, Zazu, is a sweetheart and very quiet. Parrotlets are actually incapable of screeching like most birds do. The most noise my Parrotlet makes is occasional light chirping and he likes to copy the soft crunching sound Sunflower seeds make since they?re his favorite treat. He usually chirps when he?s trying to get my attention or if he?s on my shoulder so he?s just talking to me. His cage is even in my bedroom and he doesn?t wake me up since his chirp is so light that it won?t wake you up, though he likes his sleep too so I don?t think he chirps during the night anyway. He loves cuddling and when I pick him up he loves going into my hair and cuddling up to my neck.

Obviously, theres never a guarantee that any bird you get will have a sweet or a mean personality. Every bird has its own personality which you probably know from having Parakeets before.

In order to Best Answer: that question, it?s important to know which parakeet you?re asking about. There are literally dozens of parakeet types and all have the pluses and minuses.

Also an important question would be how familiar are you with birds. Most of the time I would recommend a cockatiel to a new bird owner or one with little experience.

Parrotlets can be a handful for an inexperienced bird owner and they CAN be very loud and obnoxious if they so choose. They have all the attitude of a 400+ gram Amazon in a 40 gram body.

Well that?s up to you i had parakeets and mine kept pecking peoples hands anyways dont buy a parrotlet if i were you i would buy a dove not the white ones u c at wedding my friend has one and she calls it like a dog and it comes and it never flys away and he sleeps next to her by her bed and laughs at jokes and male doves beat up there women so get a toy dove and watch him love her and then beat her up btw hes a trained dove
